ARTIST BIO

BIOGRAPHY
Vesna Longton is a New England, US–based sculptor and painter. Born in Russia in 1974, where she graduated in 1996 Moscow State Pedagogical University, Faculty of Fine Art and Graphics. She emigrated to the United States in 2006.
Her artistic path evolved from working as an art teacher, illustrator, painter, body art artist, live event painter, muralist and experimental 3D painter and sculptor.
She has developed a personal technique that exists at the intersection of painting and sculpture, creating 3D paintings by layering paint on Plexiglas or epoxy resin, and creating sculptures with surfaces composed of layers of colored resin and Hydrostone—effectively making paintings within sculpture. The artist experiments with density, transparency, color and light, using illumination as a symbolic expression of the soul. Her work investigates the transformative power of art, self-development, the connection between inner and outer worlds, and the interconnection of everything.
An award-winning artist, Vesna Longton actively participates in solo and group exhibitions in the U.S. and internationally. Her works are held in private collections across Russia, Spain, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, and the United States.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Beyond time, everything is One. The Big Bang broke existence into pieces, and we became carriers of fragments of different energies and matter.
Art is a source of sacred knowledge. It helps me collect the pieces of that great puzzle.
My artistic universe is connected with the philosophy of the world through shamanism and cosmogenism. When artists were healers and shamans, their creations carried meaning and power. I believe in artosomatics—the power of art to bring wholeness and healing.
My artistic experiment finds its place in the diversity of metamodernism. Working in an interdisciplinary field, I make materials work with an idea. My sculptures have color; they are both dense and transparent. My paintings are often built from multiple layers of epoxy resin or Plexiglas to create depth through layers of color, or from multiple canvases that form a puzzle-like composition. Light is an essential element in my work, serving as a symbol of the soul. My works are usually based on symbols and metaphors, carrying coded messages.
Everything you see and hear, in reality or imagination, is connected to you—past, present, or future. If you are looking at my art, it is about you. It is an invitation to awaken: to remember your connection with the whole, to recognize the hidden patterns within yourself, and to rediscover the sacred knowledge that has always existed within.
