Still Life with a Black Square
Andrej DenisenkoThe work represents a conceptual homage to the legacy of the Russian avant-garde and, at the same time, a dialogue between classical tradition and radical abstraction. The introduction of the motif of the “Black Square” into the space of a traditional still life transforms the depiction of objects into a meditation on the nature of form, time, and the boundaries of artistic expression.
The Black Square is perceived here not as a decorative element, but as a metaphysical zone — an “absolute zero,” a point of disappearance and, simultaneously, the beginning of a new meaning. Against its background, the material world — the antique form, glass, and fruit — appears as a fragile testimony to human culture, preserving the memory of beauty and existence in the face of eternity.
