The bird's-eye view depersonalises the figure, turning her into an element of the landscape. The deep blue-green water sits against warm grey stone, with the body as a bridging third tone. The folded pose and the solitary leaf drifting on the water both suggest a quiet fragility — a contemporary mermaid caught in retreat between two worlds, solid and liquid.
