Fish

Master Victor

Fish is a space where the familiar laws of time no longer exist. Past, present, and future merge into a single reality, allowing figures, symbols, and civilizations from different eras to coexist within one world.
At the center of the composition, a dragon encounters Saint George. Nearby appear figures inspired by Flemish painting, architecture reaching into the cosmos, and mysterious flying objects. This is not an illustration of a fantasy narrative, but an artistic model of a universe in constant motion, where the boundaries between eras, cultures, and realities gradually dissolve.
The central image of the painting is the Fish. Here it is not a creature but a metaphor for an entire universe—a symbol of memory, creative power, the birth of new worlds, and the endless flow of life. Spirals and circles woven throughout the composition express the multiplicity of realities and the cyclical nature of time. These motifs recur throughout my work as reminders that every moment continues to exist, even after it disappears from our immediate perception.
The visual language of the painting also draws upon the tradition of the Old Flemish Masters. Years of studying and copying European classical painting have enabled me to carry its visual culture into a contemporary world of imagination, where historical heritage becomes a language for reflecting on the future.
I describe my artistic philosophy as Deep Positivism. I am interested not in catastrophe or evil for their own sake, but in humanity’s ability to preserve its inner light in the face of complexity. In my view, art should not multiply fear. It can address the most difficult questions through hope, irony, and a search for deeper meaning.
I am inspired by the idea that the Universe possesses an absolute memory. No human thought, spoken word, or action ever truly disappears. Everything we create, feel, and experience continues to exist, even after it is no longer visible to us.
Perhaps one day that universal memory will become accessible. Then we may see not only our actions but also our thoughts—everything we dreamed of, loved, feared, and eventually let go.
This idea lies at the heart of Fish. For me, time destroys nothing. It simply entrusts every moment to the eternal memory of the Universe.
